Sent to my father Thomas Emmet Urell by a friend:
Party to Celebrate Centennial
Of Gen. Urell - 12 Years Late
Spanish War Group
Plans to Honor Hero
Now Dead 44 Years
By Richard Rodgers
The late Brig. Gen. M. Emmet
Urell's 100th birthday party Saturday will be tardy by 12 years, 6
months and 13 days.
"But better late than
never," said Robert W. Livingston, 1711, North Edgewood Street,
Arlington, who is contributing his back yard for the affair.
The hosts will be
Spanish-American War veterans who campaigned with Gen. Urell, now
dead 44 years.
He was born February 8,
1842. In 1942 his 100th anniversary slipped part unnoticed here.
Now that his comrades have
finally caught up with it, they do not intend to postpone a ceremony
to a more appropriate date.
